Changelog

What changed in each release of the prized CLI and box agent, newest first.

On this page20

The dashboard, the API, and the site update continuously; this page lists the releases of the prized CLI, its daemon, and the box agent. The CLI updates itself (Updates); to update now:

prized update

prized version shows the client, daemon, and box agent versions in use.

Templates removed

Released 2026-10-18.

  • Templates are gone from the dashboard, the CLI, and the API. Each existing template is now a plain manual snapshot under its own snapshot name, disk kept; start a box from it with prized snapshot restore <snapshot>, or Restore into a new box on the box's Snapshots tab (under Deleted, in Snapshots, when that box is gone) (Snapshots).
  • The template API routes and fromTemplate on box create answer 410 templates_removed (API reference); an earlier CLI's snapshot template gets that answer, and its snapshot untemplate reports that no template has the name. An old dashboard link to start a box from a template now says templates were removed instead of starting a fresh box.

0.21.1

Released 2026-10-14.

  • A box on the free credit pauses itself after 2 hours idle, never in its first 24 hours. prized box auto-pause BOX off or prized box new --auto-pause off turns it off (Auto-pause).
  • Auto-pause counts sustained network traffic, like a sync, a clone or download, or a container image pull, as use.
  • Plain ssh <box>, an editor's remote session, and sync say when a box is paused because the credit ran out, with the link to Billing, instead of a connection error. prized status links to Billing once the credit is used up (Running out).
  • On Linux with no systemd user session (WSL without systemd, a container), prized setup, prized up, and prized doctor start the daemon themselves. Nothing restarts it after a reboot until one of them runs again.
  • prized sandbox fork on a full machine suggests starting a new sandbox and forking that, instead of trying again shortly.

0.21.0

Released 2026-10-14.

  • prized dashboard (aliases dash, top) shows your boxes full screen in the terminal, with live charts, processes, ports, and sessions, and opens a shell on the box you pick (Terminal dashboard).
  • prized exec history lists the commands run on a box and prized exec logs prints one's output, even while the box is paused; --follow streams a detached command as it runs (Command history).
  • prized prompt runs several prompts on one box at once, each in a conversation you continue with --conversation; prized prompt conversations lists them (Conversations).
  • OpenCode and pi join Claude Code and Codex in prized prompt and prized agents run, installed on the box the first time you use them (OpenCode and pi).
  • prized prompt --model takes a backend prefix to run Claude Code or Codex on another model provider with your own key, and prized prompt models lists the known models (Models and backends).
  • prized ports share makes links for people outside your workspace: --anyone for whoever holds the link, --public for everyone, each lasting as long as --expires says (Share a port).
  • prized box new --region and prized box move take the new regions by name: virginia, ohio, and frankfurt (Regions).
  • A command run with an expired API key says this API key has expired, and prized login --token prints when a key expires and how many boxes it reaches (When a key expires).
  • Ports mirrored to this machine come back within seconds after the daemon restarts or updates.
  • prized sandbox (alias prized sbx) drives sandboxes from the terminal: create one, run commands in it, copy files in and out, pause, resume, fork, and delete, with your login or an API key in PRIZED_API_KEY (CLI: Sandboxes).

Sandboxes (beta)

Released 2026-10-14.

  • Sandboxes: Linux microVMs your code creates through the API or the CLI, free to try on the free credit within the free tier. Each boots from a template in seconds, runs commands and moves files, pauses for the price of its storage, and forks into many live copies, billed per second against the same balance as your boxes (Billing: Sandboxes).
  • Two templates: prized-base-v1 (Ubuntu, Node.js, Python, git) and prized-agent-v1 (with Claude Code and Codex).
  • The Sandbox API, the dashboard's Sandboxes page, and prized sandbox (alias prized sbx) in the CLI from v0.21.0.
  • API keys gain a Sandboxes access area (What a key can do).

0.20.0

Released 2026-10-07.

  • prized herdr lands in herdr instead of tmux: a terminal multiplexer that shows which of your coding agents is working, waiting on you, or done, installed on the box the first time you connect.
  • In prized herdr on macOS and Linux, an agent that finishes or needs you posts a notification on your computer (Find the agent that needs you).
  • On macOS and Linux, a prized ssh session that loses the network reconnects on its own, back in the same session, and a dropped connection leaves your terminal clean (When the connection drops).
  • On macOS and Linux, back-to-back prized exec runs and one-off prized ssh commands share one connection to the box, so each run after the first starts sooner.
  • Commands that wake a paused box reach it sooner.
  • prized setup on Windows syncs the folder it runs in, and prized setup . works on every system.
  • prized setup and prized agents handoff codex leave this machine's ChatGPT sign-in where it is and sign Codex in on the box through your browser, so neither side gets signed out (Credentials).
  • prized fork --wait waits out the slow first copy of a big disk, and a command that wakes a box whose launch failed stops at once with the reason (Fork a box).
  • prized status says whether boxes keep running when credit runs low: overage, a renewal being collected, or a failed renewal's seven-day grace (Failed payments).

0.19.0

Released 2026-10-01.

  • Commands start faster and make fewer round trips: prized ssh, exec, and mosh look a box up once instead of twice, and the binary is smaller.

0.18.1

Released 2026-10-01.

  • npx prized signs you up, starts a box on the free credit, and sets up this machine, in one command.
  • npx prized shows the whole sign-in link, and a link opened without its way back to the terminal says so instead of reporting it expired.
  • A struggling network no longer prints tunnel and forwarding errors across a prized mosh session.

0.18.0

Released 2026-09-30.

  • prized start, the sign-up that npx prized runs: sign in from this terminal, get a box, and set up this machine.
  • The npx prized download retries a stalled transfer and shows its progress, instead of waiting on "Downloading…" forever.

0.17.0

Released 2026-09-27.

  • Networks that block the tunnel reach the box through the Prized relay, and when no path works, prized ssh, exec, and cp stop with a hint that says what refused the connection (Networks that block the tunnel).
  • A tunnel that fell back from UDP returns to it once UDP works again.
  • Proxies: Macs that reach the web only through a system proxy work without HTTPS_PROXY, the daemon uses the proxy your shell sets, and prized daemon proxy set and clear change it; a proxy that does not answer never replaces one that works.
  • prized cp copies at the tunnel's speed, and cp -r moves many files at a time.
  • A port a program starts listening on in the box appears on your machine within seconds.
  • prized ssh and exec work on a computer whose clock runs behind, instead of failing with Permission denied (publickey).
  • One-shot prized ssh and exec end without a stray "operation aborted" message.

0.16.0

Released 2026-09-22.

  • On Windows, the first run names anything that blocks it and waits for its daemon to start.
  • prized agents handoff claude says when the box already holds a Claude sign-in that stays in use.
  • A folder dragged into prized ssh skips the files your sync ignore rules skip.
  • The low-disk check before a new sync measures the disk the project will land on.
  • Reliability fixes for prized mount.

0.15.0

Released 2026-09-21.

  • Text you copy in a prized ssh session lands on this machine's clipboard, in Apple Terminal too.
  • prized ports share PORT gives a box port a prized.dev link that members of your workspace open in a browser (Share a port).
  • The box agent recognises Ghostty, so tmux attaches from a Ghostty terminal.
  • A box renews its SSH host certificate on its own before it expires.

0.14.2

Released 2026-09-15.

  • Sync pauses before staging fills your Mac's disk.

0.14.1

Released 2026-09-15.

  • A folder dropped into prized ssh lands on the box all at once, never half copied.

0.14.0

Released 2026-09-15.

  • prized setup and prized agents handoff claude copy this machine's Claude Code sign-in to the box, or, when this machine is not signed in, leave /login to you on the box; they no longer create a long-lived Claude token.

0.13.0

Released 2026-09-14.

  • prized mount runs in the background, reconnects by itself when the box sleeps or the connection drops, and answers Finder faster.

0.12.4

Released 2026-09-10.

  • prized setup offers the folder you ran it in even when it is not a git repository, and says so when nothing was synced.

0.12.3

Released 2026-09-09.

  • After prized box rebind (a box recreated under its name), the next connection reaches the new box right away.

0.12.2

Released 2026-09-07.

  • prized setup starts your agent on the box and leaves this terminal where it was; --attach hands the terminal over.
  • prized cp never follows a symbolic link and leaves hard links out of uploads.
  • An SSH alias stays bound to the box it first connected to, and says so when the name moves to another box (Troubleshooting).
  • Environment names are unique regardless of case, and the CLI resolves a name exactly or not at all.
  • prized desktop prints the VNC password only with --no-open or --json.
  • The installer verifies the release's signature before it runs the binary, and never hands your token to an unverified one.
  • The commands that hand credentials to a box refuse a restricted box, and a restricted box never receives environment secret files (Safe for third parties).

0.12.1

Released 2026-09-04.

  • Several boxes from one machine: --box NAME (or PRIZED_BOX) picks the box, each with its own daemon (Several boxes).
  • The daemon installs from a shell outside the macOS login session, such as an SSH session into the Mac.
  • prized setup installs the environment's tools side by side, so it finishes sooner.
  • prized doctor names an SSH Include that SSH ignores.
  • A project under ~/Documents keeps its .env files when it syncs.

0.12.0

Released 2026-09-02.

  • A Windows client: install from PowerShell; the daemon runs as a per-user scheduled task (Windows).
